Our largest contribution to Sri Lanka and the world is the database we maintain of trees found in the plant world that provides all relevant information including genus, location, uses, and maintenance. We support traditional art and craft men in improving their production while appreciating their efforts in minimizing environmental pollution. We also support in implementing environment-friendly surroundings in public spaces and special homes (especially for the elderly, children, etc.)
Biophilia’s CSR Initiative at the Senehasa Institution
Biophilia (Pvt) Ltd., through its recent project in the CSR avenue, took initiatives to colour the dreams of the special kids at The Senehasa Education Resource Research and Information Centre (SERRIC), Narahenpita on 26th of September 2020.
This project was executed along with the establishment of the Autism Management Programme Unit, one of the long-felt need, with the intention of creating a friendly environment for the dazzling kids who undergo special training at the said institute. Spiced up with the essence of pastoral and bucolic features, the project headed towards presenting the lovely kiddos a pleasant surrounding inculcating the fascinating biophilic designs at its best.
The design ended up converting the lifeless walls of the Autism Management Programme Unit - the newly built wing at the Senehasa Institution- into a breathtaking sight full of life for the kiddos. The unique wall designs stretching through the concrete walls of the wing were simply astonishing as they helped relive the vast vanishing greenery by welcoming the lovely kids to the world of trees with the soft touch and warmth of mother nature.
CSR initiative on Sri Lanka’s first-ever Plant Database
We have taken measures to launch our signature CSR project on creating Sri Lanka’s first-ever comprehensive plant database. This provides ample information on a wide spectrum of plants solely with the primary intention of making people aware of plants and their features.
This platform, which is being currently developed by the Biophilia team, can be recognized as a user-friendly platform designed exclusively for its customers interested in trying out planting different kinds of plants and nurturing them. This will provide them with a comprehensive guide to understand special features of plants, when and where it is ideal to grow plants, favorable climate conditions that should be considered before setting up plants, the types of plants that should be selected depending on the location and necessity. This informative platform will also provide its customers the best options available by illustrating the types of plants: aesthetic plants, functional plants, location-based plants, scale-based plants, shape-based plants, time-based plants, etc., which will perhaps help to cultivate this valuable and much-needed habit of planting trees, amongst the public. Apart from the above facilities, Biophilia is currently providing its services on garden curation, garden lighting design, landscape construction, soft and hard landscape material selection, tree doctor service, etc. by extending a helping hand for its customers to envision their dream garden along with professional touch and best guidance, meantime providing the necessary technical know-how related to plants.
Biophilia, through its Trees.lk CSR initiative is geared with the intention of promoting the importance of growing trees and also to grow trees not just to replace the disappearing forests but also to add quality and style to our day-to-day lifestyle.
CSR for Empowering the Potters' community of Sri Lanka
We the Biophilia team proudly initiate our CSR avenue project implemented solely with the intention of empowering the domestic employment sector related to pottery industry.
This project is also initiated as an eye-opener to consider the significance of pottery as a magnificent industry hailing from the yesteryears. We initially plan to purchase the pottery related productions from self-employed potters to help them financially meanwhile promoting the importance of uplifting local productions.
